Introduction

BioMS GmbH. has developed a point of care (POC) platform technology-based on molecular diagnostic technology with applications in gynecology, infectious diseases, oncology, veterinary, and other applications.

CE certified Venus GTest™ is the first revolutionary application in the gynecology field. It detects the three most common vaginal infections; BacterialVaginosis, Trichomoniasis, and Candidiasis in ~ 1 minute. It is simple to use, accurate and measures simultaneously the fingerprint signature of the three vaginal infections from a single swab.

First annual Vaginitis Seminar

On January 22, 2013, 1st International Scientific Seminar" was held in Sheba Medical Center, Israel, with the participation of global key opinion leaders (KOL's) from the gynecological field including representatives from USA Detroit, Turkey Ankara and Israel Tel-Aviv. The Seminar discussed the latest news and updates in vaginitis, especially Bacterial Vaginosis which is considered the most common form of vaginal infections. Zeev Karpas PhD., from NRC/ATMBD explained the essentials of Innovation's platform technology and the features that make it accurate. Prof. Jack Sobel gave a comprehensive presentation about vaginitis diseases and the difficulties that gynecologists are facing to detect them. Prof. Michael Dan USA & from Tel Aviv University, spoke about Vulvovaginal Candidiasis and the problem of reoccurrence due to lack of accurate diagnostic tools.

It was discussed amongst the group that the current tools (e.g. microscopy, culture, etc) are believed to be either under-diagnose or over-diagnose the infections. The technology presented its current product "The VENUE GT™" and discussed how it would provide the ideal solution for diagnosing vaginitis in a quick, sensitive and easy to use format and address the challenges raised by the panel.

Research and News Update

  • The study at LMU has been completed and the results were published by T. Blankenstein, S.D. Lyton. B. Leidl, E. Atweh, K. Friese & I. Mylonas
  • VENUS GTEST has been launched in India by Company CoreLogix & KSS PVT Ltd at the Innovation Exhibition in Delhi, Nov. 2014
  • VENUS GTEST was presented at the Technology fair in Moscow Feb 2014
  • Trichomonas vaginalis, parasitic protozoa that cause the sexually transmitted infection trichomoniasis, is the sexually transmitted infection with the largest annual incidence, exceeding 170 million cases per year. The disease can be difficult to diagnose due to its heterogeneous presentation and problems with diagnostic testing. The sensitivity of Microscopy test varies from 38% to 82% and is dependent on the inoculum size because fewer than 104 organisms/mL will not be seen. VENUS GTEST can detect easily this disease simultaneously with BV and Candidiasis.
  • New Study conducted last July 2015 a new study at Soroka Medical Center Beer Sheva for detection of GBS Group B Streptococcus disease. "Group B Streptococcus is a type of bacteria that causes illness in people of all ages. Also known as GBS or baby strep, group B strep disease in newborns most commonly causes sepsis (infection of the blood), pneumonia (infection in the lungs), and sometimes meningitis (infection of the fluid and lining around the brain). The most common problems caused by group B strep in adults are bloodstream infections, pneumonia, skin and soft-tissue infections, and bone and joint infections." cited from CDC website
  • BioMS GmbH and the company NEOBER Biotech Co. from Jiangsu province of China have launched the V-Test in Jiangsu province. at a very large breeding farm. The main missions of V-Test are to decrease the use of antibiotics (only when necessary) and to increase the fertility rate by testing the reproduction organs of farming animals a week before insemination and treat them on time.
